Maureen + Daniel
Have a few minutes? Then sit down, as this blog post may be my longest yet.
This job has allowed me to meet so many fantastic people. Last summer, I photographed Carmen + Mike’s wedding at Westmoor, and through a few degrees of separation, I found myself back at The Club for Maureen + Daniel’s big day. Mike’s sister, Katie was so sweet to pass along my name to these two, and I’m so lucky they chose me to capture their wedding for them. This entire group of people are simply awesome. It was fun to see some familiar faces at Mo + D’s wedding, and I enjoyed getting to know even more.
A couple months before the wedding, Maureen’s mom was kind enough to let me come over to their home to check out where the reception would be held. I immediately felt welcomed by Meg, she shares the same warmth and kindness as her daughter. While I know above all, I’ve been hired to do a job - I truly hope to connect with my couples and their families, and I felt a connection to Meg immediately (the same way I felt when I met Mo + D!). The family home has hosted two weddings previously - including Meg + Jim’s, so it was a natural choice for their daughter to follow suit. Meg showed me where the tent would go, where cocktails would be served, where we would take the traditional family photo by the silo. I couldn’t wait!
Maureen + Daniel were married on August 17, 2019 at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Milwaukee, WI. The church was filled to near standing room only, and the ceremony began with a special song for Nana Hudak, sung by one of Daniel’s groomsmen. It was the sweetest moment. You’ll see - Nana has the most beautiful smile! The couple exchanged vows, and shared a quiet moment in honor of Daniel’s mother who had passed away, but I’m certain the family felt her presence with them all day long.
We then went to Lake Park for portraits - and had an absolute blast. There is something so light about this couple; their energy is lightweight and happy, and if they have an aura about them - it is certainly light and bright. There was no shortage of smiles, laughter, dance moves, jokes, and warmth. I really can’t gush about them enough.
Following portraits, we were off to the farm! Seeing Meg + Jim’s yard transformed into the reception space was so cool. The tent was set up over their tennis court, and Esther Flemming killed it with the floral arrangements and the greenery-draped chandeliers. Guests mingled and enjoyed cocktails while strolling around the property; I’m sure it brought up lots of good memories for Maureen’s parents. Jim kicked off the reception with a fantastic speech, pointing out that the love for Mo + D brings people together; the couple had guests in attendance from as far away as South Africa! Like I said - this couple has an energy that makes you want to be around them. Everyone enjoyed dinner and desserts, drinks and dancing, and even late night cheese curds. While I wrapped up a bit earlier than the party ended, the festivities continued well into the evening (I maybe even saw an Instagram post of Mo + D jumping into a pool filled with their friends…some of them still in their wedding attire!).
Maureen + Daniel, thank you. Meg + Jim, thank you. Thank you for allowing me to share in the big day. It was absolutely perfect and I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do!
Cheers to the new Mr. + Mrs. Connor - I wish you alllllll the best on your journey through life together. Continue to laugh together and you’ll be golden.
